Campbell’s Labels for Education Star Powered Music Day Contest / Zac Brown Band Visit

Bynum School was blessed to win the Campbell’s Labels for Education Star Powered Music Day contest this past spring. As a result we had a visit from Jessica Martin and Alyssa Erickson representing Campbell’s Labels for Education, Scott Goldman, Vice President of the Grammy Foundation and Zac Brown and Clay Cook from the Zac Brown Band. Zac’s band bus pulled up into our parking lot around 11:00 am Friday morning. After meeting with a small group of Bynum School representatives, Campbell’s presented us with a music curriculum and a miniature guitar which Zac Brown autographed. Then Bynum School’s Executive Director Molly Wallace took Zac and friends on a tour of the school. They visited each classroom and Zac spent time talking to each student and staff member.

Our students were the opening act singing and signing “Chicken Fried” to Zac, Clay and the audience. All present enjoyed the whole experience through tears and smiles! Zac and Clay then performed three songs and kept the audience in awe of their awesome talents. Bynum’s students had created a list of questions for Zac and he answered many of those and talked to the audience about the importance of music and how it impacts his life on a daily basis.

The day was full of surprises with Campbell’s awarding us 100,000 bonus points to use towards needed items in programs such as arts, athletics, and academics. The entire day was more than we could have ever imagined! Jessica, Alyssa, Scott, Zac and Clay were truly genuine people and we enjoyed them so much! Zac Brown has a huge heart for the population of students we serve and that made his visit even more special!!
