Whenever you volunteer at the school or school events, register and record your time spent volunteering. Documentation is used for audits, grant requests, and to document your commitment to serving at least 12 hours each school year. Parents receiving tuition assistance are required to volunteer 24 hours during the school year. An application fee discount may be offered to parents who complete volunteer hours.
What is AFT?
Parents and family members work with faculty, staff, and administration to form the Association of Families and Teachers (AFT). Parent volunteers govern AFT.
Who is a member of AFT?
All Bynum School staff members and families are members of the AFT. Membership does not require annual dues.
Room Parent: Assist with class parties or perform other duties to assist the teacher.
Staff Appreciation Volunteer: Help celebrate birthdays and recognize staff on appreciation days.
Office Help: Provide clerical assistance in the office, such as answering the telephone, copying, folding letters, and stuffing envelopes.
Special Events Volunteer: Volunteers can assist in all aspects of fundraisers, including chairing the committee, planning, decorating, preparing invitations, and donor appreciation.
Christmas Flower Sale Coordinator: Plan the event, prepare and mail order forms, collect payments, recruit volunteers to deliver flowers, provide quality customer service, clean greenhouses after all plants are delivered, and set up and manage sales spreadsheets.
Christmas Flower Sales Volunteer: Be part of the flower sale committee. See job descriptions above.
Refreshments Volunteer: Help provide, set up, and clean up refreshments at AFT meetings.
