Brief Description:           

Bynum School, a faith-based private school serving children and adults who have special needs, seeks to hire an occupational therapist.  The purpose of this position is to work with students, teachers, and administrators to provide occupational therapy services as part of the professional learning community at Bynum School.  Primary responsibilities include assessing students, evaluating diagnostic reports provided from outside sources, and preparing individual and group therapy sessions.  Additional duties include documenting student progress, maintaining Individual Program Plans and helping classroom teachers implement strategies in classrooms.  

Job requirements include graduation from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) accredited school.  Complete requirements for licensure in Texas or completion in progress.  Experience with children and adults who have special needs preferred, ability to lift or position children and adults, ability to work well with children and adults, ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students, ability to maintain accurate and detailed records, and valid Texas driver’s license.  Salary and schedule are negotiable.

Hiring a Visual Arts Instructor

Visual Arts Instructor

Brief Description:           

Bynum School is a faith-based, nonprofit, private day school that serves students who have special needs ages pre-school through adult.  Students may be diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, various learning disabilities, rare syndromes, and medical fragility.  An Individual Program Plan that focuses on abilities, not disabilities, is prepared for each student. Inclusionary practices are provided through community-based instruction. Students receive academic instruction, music therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, training in life skills, self-help skills, and vocational skills.  

 

Bynum School seeks an energetic, dedicated, visual arts instructor.  The visual arts instructor coordinates art lessons with classroom instruction and with other therapies.  Lessons must teach principals of art and develop motor skills.  The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, co workers, and parents is essential.  Applicants must demonstrate motivation and commitment to serving all students in a safe and nurturing environment.  The schedule is flexible.

 

Qualifications:  Able to lift and have adequate mobility.  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a teaching certificate in a related field preferred.  Experience with children and adults who have special needs. Valid Texas driver’s licenses.

 Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Individual Program Plans (IPP).

  • Assess, plan lessons based on individual program plans

  • Modify curriculum

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of disability categories

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
